How to Tell If Your Hydrangea Needs Water
- Touch Test: Stick your finger into the soil about an inch deep. If it feels dry, it’s time to water.
- Look for Droopiness: If the flowers or leaves are starting to droop or look limp, your plant is thirsty.
Give It a Weekly Soak
Once a week, treat your hydrangea to a deep drink:
- Fill a bucket with water.
- Slowly lower the pot into the water until it’s submerged up to the first set of leaves.
- Wait until the bubbles stop rising—this means the soil is fully soaked.
- Take it out after a few minutes. Don’t leave it sitting in water too long—roots need air too!
Avoid Soggy Bottoms
Don’t let the pot sit in a saucer full of water. While hydrangeas love moisture, their roots need good drainage to stay healthy.
